Robla School District is excited to share that students in grades TK through 12th can ride for free all year with SacRT’s RydeFreeRT program. This fare-free transit program allows students and youth to ride the entire SacRT network, including fixed-route buses, light rail, and the SmaRT Ride on-demand microtransit service, completely free of charge!
New RydeFreeRT cards, valid from June 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, are available for all eligible youth. The program operates all day, every day of the week, during regular SacRT service hours, providing students with flexibility to travel whenever needed.
Youth experiencing homelessness or in foster care are also eligible, regardless of their current residence or school address. Students without a RydeFreeRT card can pick one up at SacRT’s Customer Service and Sales Center at 1225 R Street, or at a participating Sacramento library.
For full details on how to obtain a card and other program information, visit RydeFreeRT.com or call SacRT at 916-321-BUSS (2877).
Since its launch in 2019, RydeFreeRT has been a game changer for students, accounting for nearly 25% of all SacRT bus and light rail rides over the past year. In FY 2024 alone, student ridership reached 4.2 million—double the pre-pandemic numbers in 2019!
Note: This program does not apply to youth over 18 years old who are pursuing their GED.
